About Me
I believe that an authentic and caring relationship between me and the individuals I care for is the single most important element in an effective psychotherapeutic relationship.
My therapeutic orientation is grounded in contemporary psychoanalytic, existential, and psychodynamic psychiatry and therapy. I am informed by meditation, mindfulness, stoicism, altered states of consciousness, cognitive, and behavioral approaches. Drawing from both empirical and theoretical approaches, I accompany my patients as they grapple with the human condition. In working with my patients, I seek to discover their strengths, which we will nurture to foster healing. Attentive listening to my patients’ desires, fears, and needs helps me to offer a highly individualized approach to psychiatric care and psychotherapy.
I am the Section Chief of Palliative Care, Chair of the Ethics Committee, and an associate Psychiatrist at Putnam Hospital in Carmel, NY. I earned my medical degree and completed a residency in psychiatry at The Ohio State University. I completed a fellowship in palliative care at Columbia University and Cornell University Medical Centers in Manhattan. I have worked in academic medical centers, community mental health centers, inpatient units, and outpatient clinics. I have treated teens and adults of all ages with depression, anxiety, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric disorders with and without medical illness.
I look forward to bringing my background, experience, and knowledge to work with you to heal and grow in the areas of work, love and play in your life.
